Multi-office, solidly established, international, boutique analytics-focused hedge fund is looking for an experienced FTR Analyst to join its Galleria Area, Houston, TX Office.
REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS
- Technical Degree or Significant Coursework in Quantitative Fields and/or Analytics such as, but not limited to, Engineering, (Applied) Math, Statistics, Data Science, Physics, Computer Science, or Economics required.
- Two to Four (2-4) years of Professional Experience in a Technical Role required.
- Exposure to Power Engineering, Commodities Trading, or a role requiring fundamental analysis and modeling of both qualitative and quantitative data.
- Experience with Production Cost Models (DAYZER, PROMOD, UPLAN, PLEXOS, PowerWorld OPF) a plus.
- Significant work in Python, ideally along with experience in software design or large projects/libraries.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Support speculative FTR trading book across most North American ISOs (PJM, MISO, SPP, ERCOT, NYISO).
- Fundamental research and analysis of the power market with a focus on congestion trading.
- Power system simulation/modeling.
- Contribute to analytical code base through enhancement of existing framework or design of new tools.
- Actively participate in strategy development and portfolio management process.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
