The overall objective of the CNC Brake Machine Operator, 2nd class position is to engage in all activities concerned with producing parts by operating a CNC brake machine, and ensure that jobs are completed and shipped as scheduled while meeting our quality standards. Responsibilities Support the effort of being a best-in-class manufacturer through the fabrication of high-quality products that exceed our clients’ expectations by operating the Brake Press machine in order to bend materials as needed for the fabrication of Point Eight Power products. This includes: Retrieving the parts list and applicable CNC programs to create parts as needed per job. Loading materials onto the machine in preparation for punch or break, and safely securing materials on the machine with clamps, fingers, or other fixtures. Coordinating with the 1st class CNC Machine Operator to enter commands or make adjustments to machine controls to correct errors while operating the brake press. Monitoring machines and control panel displays to ensure machines are operating correctly. Using tools, such as calipers and protractors, to measure finished products to ensure they meet requirements. Staging parts as completed to prepare for the next phase of fabrication. Performing scheduled and repair maintenance of machines, including maintaining, sharpening, and replacing tools as necessary. Maintaining a safe, clean, and well-organized work area. Performing necessary side operations during machine cycle time as required. Training with 1st class CNC Machine Operators to develop skills and learn how to operate both machines. Must be available to work swing/night shift when assigned. Required Skills Intrapersonal Skills: Self-motivated and able to identify, examine, and resolve issues independently. Strong regard for guidelines, procedures, and integrity. Engineering and Technology: Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology, including principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment for design and production. Production and Processing: Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and techniques for maximizing effective manufacture and distribution of goods. Design: Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in producing precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models. Mechanical: Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. Tools include Trumpf, Accupress, Allen wrenches, grinders, brake press, punch press, forklift, crane, shears, and calipers. Technical Experience: Excellent mechanical skills and aptitude in supporting CNC sheet metal equipment, ability to visualize 3D parts from cut sheets. Good math skills and basic computer skills are required. Computers and Electronics: Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including applications and programming such as Microsoft Office; knowledge of accounting software such as AS 400. Verbal & Written Communication Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, and speak effectively before groups. Math Skills: Intermediate skills required (calculate figures/discounts, proportions, area, etc.). Arm-Hand Steadiness: Ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving or holding in one position. Visualization: Ability to imagine how something will look after moving or rearranging its parts. Manual Dexterity: Ability to quickly move your hand, arm, or both to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
