Provides initial training per quality system requirements, and training on processes, procedures, and workmanship to introduce operators onto assembly lines. Provides focused oversight and assistance for successful integration of new hires and for existing operators' career development and progression. Position Authority: Trainer reports to the Production Supervisor. This position has the authority to stop production at his/her work station if there is question or concern about the acceptability of materials, assemblies or processes that affect the quality or safety of Viant products. Provides leadership and supervision to new hires. Essential Job Functions: Trains new hires, temporary, and existing employees on a variety of manufacturing processes at workstations and in the classroom, including - but not limited to - documentation handling; production-related quality system processes and procedures; assembly methods; and equipment operation (setup, operation, cleaning, troubleshooting, etc.). Assures that associates gain a thorough understanding of Quality System documentation and requirements. Develops and promotes positive working relationships with peers, leaders and managers. Establishes a positive learning environment and responds to the individual needs of trainees. Assesses the abilities of trainees. Identifies strengths and weaknesses of trainees in the production environment. Adjusts training approach as needed. Evaluates progress of each trainee during the training period and provides frequent constructive feedback to the trainee and supervisor on their progress. Offers positive feedback to reinforce desired behaviors, and provides respectful negative feedback when needed to ensure compliance with processes and procedures. Verifies qualification of trainees prior to release into production assembly, and monitors the progress of associates after they have entered the production environment. Coordinates with Supervisors, Team Leads and Associates to gain knowledge of work situations that may require additional training for associate(s). Coordinates completed training information with appropriate departments, such as QA, HR, and Production. Remains updated on changes in procedures and regulations. Provides ongoing feedback to Supervisors regarding all aspects of training. Offers improvement suggestions. May perform alternate roles as needed (e.g. assembler, line lead, etc.). Knowledge and Education: High School Diploma or GED Understanding of 5 or more assembly processes. Working knowledge of quality system requirements Job Experience: 6-12 months Manufacturing assembly experience in a leadership position 2 years' work experience in a manufacturing environment Skill and Competencies: Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel.
