Assembler staff works as a team, and each member may operate different machines within a shift, as well as handle both wet and dry laundry as needed. Job Functions, Duties, Responsibilities This position will work within a team of people performing similar duties. Along with one or more team members, an Assembler may perform some or all of the following duties during a given shift: Push/pull a cart of clean linen to work station Identify the customer by the customer tag Separate mixed clean linens Feed linens into machinery for folding or ironing Fold linens and mops by hand Place linens on an automated conveyor Place linen onto a metal hanger (cubicle curtains) When necessary stack linen as it comes out of folding or ironing machines Visually and manually inspect linen to maintain quality Maintain a clean work station Additional duties as assigned Perform job rotation as required Additional Responsibilities: On occasion, an Assembler may be requested to handle linen that requires special attention, including: Counting folded linens and stacking them by count Assist in conducting inventories for accounts Able to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations Strong teamwork skills- ready and willing to work closely with team members Open to and able to work day or night shifts, and willing to rotate shifts depending on production need Open to long hours and working weekends (Sat/Sun) Pass a background check and regulated drug screen, in accordance with applicable laws fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or request an accommodation for qualifying medical condition or sincerely-held religious beliefs Minimum Qualifications Ability to read comprehend and write English Quality orientation and high attention to detail Able to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations Strong teamwork skills- ready and willing to work closely with team members Open to and able to work day or night shifts, and willing to rotate shifts depending on production need Open to long hours and working weekends (Sat/Sun) Pass a background check and regulated drug screen, in accordance with applicable laws fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or request an accommodation for qualifying medical condition or sincerely-held religious beliefsPreferred Qualifications Prior experience working in a plant environment RequirementsPhysical / Mental Requirements Physical Demands include constant standing and frequent walking throughout entire work shift. Maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on work surface. Constant reaching above and below shoulder height, twisting, applying pressure, grasping (including fingers, thumb and palm) items and loading machinery in a repetitive motion. Lifting. Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. This occurs constantly throughout the shift requiring substantial use of the upper arms, shoulders and back muscles. Constant pushing/pulling of both empty and full, wheeled laundry carts of varying weights and sizes, up to and potentially exceeding 250 pounds. Constant throughout entire 8-hour shift, fingering, fine manipulation, picking and grasping primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm. Repetitive hand movement includes simple and power grasping, and pushing and pulling items. Heavy work, including exerting force and lifting up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 20 pounds force constantly to move objects. Pulling. Using upper arms and shoulders to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion. Ability to maintain productivity requirements in a fast-paced facility where all operations are driven by fully functioning, full life cycle computer system. System uses time sensitive production that follows a system of conveyor surfaces to move products and materials through the entire cleaning process to assure highest quality cleaning functionality. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Ability to understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information. Ability to remember and communicate routine, factual information. Ability to organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology Ability to apply common sense and make decisions which have a moderate impact on the immediate work unit Ability to understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines. Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word, communicating orally with others accurately, loudly, and quickly Ability to count accurately Required to wear and use personal protective equipment as required by job task based on hazard assessment. Ability to hear for safety and awareness of surroundings. Must be able to meet the physical demands for the entire shift. Work Environment Production areas of a typical industrial laundry facility, which includes working with and around large machinery, variations in temperature (non-air-conditioned work area), noise, humidity, and other hazards. Worker is subject to sustained hot working environment. Inside environmental conditions without cooling air conditioning and internal temperatures vary and can be within range of 90 degrees Fahrenheit and higher. Worker is exposed to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout to be heard above ambient noise level.
