JOB GOAL:Valparaiso High School is seeking an experienced and dedicated individual to serve as Assistant Principal. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record as a building leader, with particular expertise in college-level academics (e.g. dual credit programming aligned with the Indiana College Core), the oversight and leadership of athletic programming, and in the implementation of effective student programs that support student acclimation to and success in high school life.QUALIFICATIONS:Masters degree in Education Administration or related field.Valid administrative license.Minimum of 5 years of experience in education administration roles.Knowledge of Indiana Graduation Pathways and successful leadership experiences associated with graduation pathway programs (e.g. ICC, Dual Credit, AP, IB, CTE)Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders to achieve common goals.Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive school culture that promotes student success and well-being.PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:Documented history of transformational leadership in the following areas:Educational Programming: Dual Credit, Indiana College Core, College-Level Academics, Career & Technical EducationStudent Achievement: Graduation Pathways, PSAT/SAT, AP/IB,College Level Assessments and CreditsAthletic Program Leadership (e.g. Head Coaching, Athletic Director, etc.)Systems and processes associated with school operations such as fiscal management, human resources, and building maintenanceCurriculum, Assessment, and InstructionEffective Time ManagementTechnological ProficiencyPERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Leadership: Exemplify VCS core leadership values through:Visibility in the schoolhouse and community,Positive interactions with students, staff, and families,Effective communication with all stakeholders,Consistent follow-through with commitments and responsibilities.College-Level Academics: Serve as Lead Administrator for Dual Credit programming and implementation of the Indiana College CoreCollaborate with teachers and college/university partners to support teacher certification in dual credit and to modify course offerings and syllabi as necessary to meet the standards of the Indiana College CoreWork with school counselors to monitor student progress toward achieving the Indiana College CoreAssessment: Serve as Lead Administrator for student success with PSAT and SATWork with school counselors, administrative assistants, and instructional coaches to support student growth and achievement with PSAT and SAT through Tier I integration strategies and targeted interventions. Provide opportunities for individual pursuit of higher achievement via test-taking strategies and practice sessions.Collaborate with the school test coordinator to administer the PSAT/SAT adhering to exam deadlines, communicating with CTCs, and leading the organization and planning of test administration.Teacher Evaluation:Promote teacher growth and AMP (autonomy, mastery, and purpose) through authentic relationships, regular observations paired with timely and specific feedback, and goal-setting aligned with building & district-level outcomes.Provide coaching and evaluation for a group of teachers from various departments and with varying years of experience through supportive accountability and the use of district-approved tools.Work with instructional coaches to provide targeted support to teachers regarding their professional growth goals and to inform professional development opportunities geared towards school improvement.Athletics: Serve as Lead Administrator for VCS Athletic Programming 6-12Participate as the administrative chair of the Coaches Council advising on creative opportunities for growth and development of athletics programming, overarching principles and guidelines for Valparaiso Athletics, policy proposals, and standard operating procedures.Provide oversight and administrative support to the VHS athletic department through student-centered decision-making, the celebration of current and former student-athletes, the inspiration of future student-athletes, and providing a high-quality user experience for all community stakeholders.Promote collaboration between the Athletic Department and the Physical Education Department to support an annual review and successful implementation of the P.E. Waiver Process.High School Success: Serve as an administrative co-chair of the team dedicated to boosting student acclimation to and success in the high school experience at VHS.Apply the continuous improvement process to building and maintaining a vibrant Freshman Transitions program.Deploy creative strategies and a wide range of interventions within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports to promote student success in a high school environment.Utilize a progressive discipline approach that emphasizes education, intervention, and support, rather than solely punitive measures for students in grades 9-11.Oversee a summer school program that encourages flexible scheduling opportunities during the regular school year by allowing students to earn original credits in courses required for graduation.Provide programming within the summer school formatthat supports student efforts to recover credits and stay on target for successful graduation from high schoolTerms of Employment:260 days, possible two-year contractSalary Range: To be determined plus comprehensive fringe benefit package#J-18808-Ljbffr
