GENERAL DESCRIPTION

This position receives general direction of the Radiologist and supervision from Imaging Services Supervisor. The MRI Technologist performs a variety of radiologic procedures including routine and special MR1 procedures within the limits of standard procedures of the Imaging Services Department. Position may have on-call responsibilities on evening/night/weekend and/or holiday shifts.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

+ Investigates and resolves patient complaints within the unit.

+ Positions, handles and performs MRI and radiologic procedures of patients prof orders and or Radiologist.

+ Performs general and special MRI procedures as requested.

+ Assists with the quality assessment/improvement plan for department with attention to MRI services.

+ I dentifies and resolves problems related to equipment, patients, supplies and billing procedures.

+ Performs clerical and support tasks including patient transporting and exam scheduling.

+ Prepares and maintains routine department records and reports; and special and periodic reports and/or analysis.

+ Works with Team Leader to coordinate Performance Improvement projects and data collection for MRI area.

+ Assists supervisor(s) with budgetary reviews related to MRI needs.

+ Monitors MRI processes and activities for quality of procedures and performance Of staff.

+ Maintains exceptional communication and interpersonal skills in Order to effectively interact with all individuals.

+ Maintains a professional appearance and approach.

+ Responds to all inquiries and requests in a timely manner.

+ Performs other duties as assigned.

Varies, As Needed Basis

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

+ Graduation from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology. Certification by the A.R.R.T.

+ Valid Iowa permit to practice.

+ One (l ) year MRI experience or ARRT certified in radiology with at least one year of cross training at Broadlawns Medical Center.

+ Demonstrates effective communication skills Experience with computer applications.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

+ Two (2) years previous experience as MRI Technologist in a hospital environment.

+ Bilingual.
