Senior Cell Design Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Cell Design Engineer This role will see you join the Product Development team. The right person will be focusing on the optimisation of the Lithium rechargeable batteries performance and managing various aspects of their design. This role requires a deep understanding of battery functionality, assembly processes, and the factors affecting energy density. Responsibilities Design Verification : Oversee design verification for jelly-roll and stacking, as well as Cell Spec and formation process conditions. Parameter Review : Evaluate and provide feedback on cell parameters to align them with customer requirements. Failure Analysis : Conduct root cause analysis for cell failures when necessary. Collaboration : Work closely with the cell design team, internal R&D, process, and production teams to address and mitigate cell-level issues. Customer Interaction : Coordinate with project managers to respond to customer requests. Compliance : Adhere to company protocols related to confidentiality, assignment of inventions, and other policies. Qualifications Educational Background : Master’s or PhD degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related fields. Experience : Over 5 years of industrial experience in cell design, including testing, data analysis, and failure mechanism analysis. Automotive Cycle : Experience with the full cycle from automotive A-sample to SOP. Technical Skills : Knowledge in electrochemistry, mechanics, and statistical analysis. Cell Types : Experience with pouch or prismatic cells. Communication : Strong verbal and written communication skills. Software Proficiency : Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project). Programming knowledge (e.g., Python) is a plus. Additional Skills : Statistical analysis and machine learning skills are preferred. Problem-Solving : Strong problem-solving abilities and creativity in addressing challenges. Adaptability : Willingness to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced start-up environment.
