This role spans Surgical Daycare, Operating Rooms (OR), and the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at both St. Paul's Hospital and Mount St. Joseph Hospital, offering a unique opportunity to lead and shape clinical practices across perioperative settings. While this position is based at St. Paul's Hospital, there will be occasional visits to Mount St. Joseph Hospital as well. As a Perioperative Clinical Nurse Specialist , you will be a clinical expert, educator, and leader within the multidisciplinary team. You will work closely with Clinical Group/Service Leaders, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to enhance nursing practice and improve patient outcomes in both your area of specialty and across broader nursing initiatives throughout Providence Health Care. Your expertise will play a vital role in advancing clinical care and ensuring that our patients receive the highest standard of care. What You Bring Education Master's degree in Nursing. Current practicing registration with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia. Five years of Nursing experience with three years of recent, related experience in Perioperative Nursing (OR/PACU). Skills and Abilities Ability to develop, implement and evaluate programs in areas of clinical practice. Ability to perform in-depth holistic patient/family assessments, plan, implement and evaluate care for complex care situations, and guide interdisciplinary team members in care planning. Ability to be an effective consultant for individuals and groups. Ability to conceptualize research questions and collaborate with researchers to conduct research. Ability to role model expert nursing practice. Ability to assist in the development of professional and leadership skills of the nursing staff. Ability to synthesize and utilize research findings in practice. Ability to present clinical/research work in a scholarly way. Prepared to be affiliated with a university school. Leads the development and evaluation of patient care programs, including the establishment of standards of practice. Coordinates the evaluation of patient care outcomes and recommends practice changes to improve care quality. Identifies learning needs of patients, residents, and staff and develops educational programs to meet performance expectations. Supports nursing research by promoting critical thinking, evaluating practice, and implementing evidence-based innovations.
