HEAD OF PEOPLE AND DEVELOPMENT – BAO GROUP
Salary – Up to £70,000 pa
Schedule – Full Time
Experience – 5+ years in HR/ People & Development, CIPD qualified
BAO was founded by Shing and his wife Erchen and Shing’s Sister Wai Ting. Following a trip to Erchen’s homeland Taiwan, and having a mind bending experience when eating gua bao, the trio came back to London to perfect the bao recipe and kick-started BAO as a street food stall in East London back in 2013, to now 6 restaurants across Central London.
Over the years we have been fine turning our people culture. The Role:
As Head of People & Development you will be driving internal growth through talent management & compensation management with inclusivity and fairness; be a force in championing a positive employee relations and team cohesion; coaching managers to cultivate a positive work culture and growth mindset; and implementing policies and procedures that will continue to help shape BAO as a great place to work.
Key areas of focus include:
Driving strategy to keep improving BAO as a great place to work:
Gathering & analysing data to support the people strategy
People & Culture policies & procedures:
Develop & execute in line with our commitment to fairness, wellbeing, respect, and compliance
Employment Law Compliance:
Confidently navigate employment laws and regulations, advocating for practices that uphold our values of equity & fairness and also meet legal requirements.
Nurturing talent:
Empower, support and cultivate a culture of learning and goal setting; performance development and feedback loops. Create & curate learning content to support personal growth in the business
Nurturing Employee Relations:
Be the guardian of our supportive and positive workplace culture; designing iniatives that help nurture cohesive teams and open communication
Curating Compensation Management:
Design compensation strategies that recognise and reward excellence, ensuring our compensation practices are transparent, equitable, and competitive

The experience and skills we are looking for include:
Knowledge of employment law, CIPD qualified
Experience in developing and executing policies and procedures
Experience in talent management and compensation management
Experience in a hospitality setting
A track record of 5+ years in HR management roles, with a focus on fostering inclusive cultures and nurturing talent
