The Regional Virtual Clinical Dietitian Part-time is responsible for providing nutrition assessments, recommendations, nutrition education and monitoring. The position combines the activities of direct and indirect patient care and provides direct care to pediatric, adolescent and adult patients. The RVDC will collaborate with like disciplines to offer consistent and quality care while driving cost savings. The position provides subject matter expertise in the form of providing education opportunities to both internal and external customers. The Regional Virtual Clinical Dietitian Part-time provides guidance to the medical doctors and case managers on appropriate diet, enteral and parenteral feeding regimens, or other nutrition interventions based off the nutrition assessment findings and documents all patient care as appropriate in relation to diet and nutrition.

What You Need to Know:

Regional Virtual Clinical Dietitian Part-time Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a nutritional plan of care which is based on a comprehensive assessment of nutritional needs as part of the patients total plan of care. Evaluate and report results appropriately.
  • Work with the physician and interdisciplinary group to provide appropriate counseling to individuals and families/caregivers in the home setting.
  • Evaluate and instruct on nutritional principles, dietary plans, food selection and economics, and adapting plans to the individuals illness, as indicated.
  • Reevaluate nutritional care by providing home follow-up care either at the patients residence or by phone.
  • Communicate appropriate dietary history and nutritional care through appropriate clinical documentation.
  • Record subjective and objective information, assessment, treatment plan, and current progress notes in the patients clinical records including a discharge summary.
