Essential Job Duties:
- Collaborates with department director in the design, development, implementation and monitoring of the risk management program, including effective systems which promote and support patient, caregiver and visitor safety.
- Collaborates with director to ensure the organization adheres to laws, regulations and accrediting body standards and implements policies and procedures necessary to support risk structures and processes.
- Serves as subject matter expert on patient safety and risk management policies, processes and procedures.
- Recommends safety policies, practices and procedures.
- Maintains the event reporting system.
- Strong understanding of process review and root cause analysis. Conduct root cause analysis on all safety events deemed appropriate by organization.
- Collaborates with appropriate leaders to assure appropriate investigation, interventions, and documentation of incidents/events reporting in the organizational event reporting system.
- Analyze event reporting data and collaborate with appropriate personnel to develop and implement plans for improvement.
- Prepare visual dashboards/reporting elements based on event reporting entries and safety concerns. Responsible for reporting requirements for various hospital committees.
- Collect and prepare documentation in response to pre-litigation and litigation requests.
- Serve as team lead or facilitator for committees focused on safety and risk reduction.
- Notifies the department director regarding any adverse occurrences and potential serious safety concerns.
- Engage in leadership duties to include coaching and staff development/education related to patient safety and risk management activities.
Qualifications
Job Specifications:
- Degree in nursing, Healthcare management or related health field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in progressively responsible experience in the healthcare field with preference in healthcare risk management, patient safety, quality improvement or nursing.
- CPHRM or ability to obtain within 3 years, CPPS also preferred
- BLS
- Microsoft Office, M365 with proficiency in Excel
