Job Description
Saint Michael's College is seeking a dynamic, diplomatic, culturally responsive HR professional with experience looking at HR through the lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) to support the overall operations of Human Resources at the College. Areas of focus for the Associate Director will include oversight of talent acquisition, onboarding, retention, employee/labor relations, employee leaves, total compensation, staff and faculty DEI, and associated compliance. The Associate Director will be a primary point of contact for managers and employees regarding a broad range of complex employee and labor relations issues. The Associate Director will assist the Director and all members of the Human Resources team in building upon and advancing the important work of developing and implementing strategic initiatives around employment with diversity, equity and inclusion at the forefront.
The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree and will have worked as a professional in the Human Resources field for a minimum of five years, preferably in the employment and employee relations areas, and have a demonstrated understanding of and commitment to DEI as it relates to all areas of employment. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Having designed and delivered cultural competency/responsiveness, implicit bias, leadership and employment training programs is a significant plus.
This is a full-time, year-round, in-person position that reports to the Director of Human Resources.

Our lived experience impacts how we self-assess our skills, experience, and qualifications. In particular, data and statistics have shown that candidates who are BIPOC, LGBTQ+, women, people from working-class backgrounds, people with disabilities, and others with minoritized and marginalized identities may not apply to jobs when they do not believe they meet 100% of the requirements and expected responsibilities listed in the job descriptions. Some responsibilities and skills are teachable and can be learned on the job. If you can imagine yourself in this position, bringing value to our students and community and meeting most of what we are looking for, please apply.
Benefits include health, dental, vision, employer-paid life and disability insurance, voluntary life, critical illness and accident insurance options, parental leave, flexible spending accounts (healthcare and dependent care), 401(k), generous paid time off, paid holidays, employee and dependent tuition benefits, employee and family assistance program, well-being programs and opportunities, discounted gym membership, paid volunteer time, use of the athletic facilities and the library, and countless opportunities to attend presentations, lectures, and other campus activities.
