**Description**
**Position Overview**
This position will provide comprehensive support to Proterras **Design Release Engineering Manager** and other site leadership team members in Greenville, SC. This position will be responsible for electric drivetrain design and release for Proterra programs and will support current and future vehicle projects.
**About the Role

You will:**
* Design and release of advanced electric drivetrain and related components for Proterra
* Create drivetrain component specifications and interface with key suppliers and manufacturing in support of vehicle level requirements
* Work with suppliers on part obsolescence and succession plans
* Lead and implement industry best practices for electric drivetrain design and the use of analytical tools to optimize system performance
* Works with CAE resources to ensure high performance and efficiency of design
* Ensure the drivetrain sub-system is properly integrated with all other vehicle systems
* Release design math and various other support drawings and works closely with mechanical design group to ensure 3D data integrity and drawing accuracy
* Create robust component level DFMEAs
* Develop robust component development and validation plans and work with product validation group to ensure product meets customer requirements
* Author statement of requirements as part of strategic sourcing initiatives
* Support test and field incident resolution for issues related to drivetrain component functionality
* Maintain State-of-the-Art knowledge of electric drivetrain related topics
* Implement new technology and the development of future products and scaling of drivetrain manufacturing
* Performs other duties as assigned by management.

**About You:**
* Knowledge of design, development, test, manufacturing and assembly operations (DFM)
* Self-starter with the ability to balance and prioritize
* Solid people, communication and presentation skills
* Team player who understands and demonstrates by example the importance of working well with others both internal and external to the organization
* Excellent English communication skills
**Your Experience Includes:**
* Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering Required
* 6 years minimum of progressive engineering experience within the transportation and/or electric drivetrain industry
* Experience with CAE/FEA of electric drivetrain design
* Commercial bus, heavy truck, automotive or vehicle systems design a plus
* Vehicle electric drivetrain design and development experience a plus
* Proficient in 3D CAD design of mechanical components: CATIA 3DX preferred
