Job Duties and Responsibilities

Provide daily technical support to the shop floor. Support all tool testing, process improvements activities, prototype runs, new program implementation and identify continuous improvements opportunities. Complete engineering PM’s as assigned. Maintain CNC programs and manage program change control per documented process. Perform layered process audits as scheduled. Diagnose and resolve tooling, equipment and gaging problems, utilizing formal problem solving methods. Maintain and publish reports of problems and their resolution on a regular basis utilizing the “open issues” format. Program, debug and troubleshoot the equipment in assigned area of responsibility. Understand and develop plans to improve process performance in assigned area of responsibility. Participate in the APQP process for new product launches as assigned. Develop and maintain, “lessons learned” for the processes in assigned area of responsibility. Review, plan and implement process changes (verifying process integrity) that result from the continuous improvement program; ECCR’s, ECN’s, PRR’s, IECR’s, etc. Develop and maintain all process documentation and tool, machine and gage designs as they are changed, revised and/or improved (as-built documentation). Work in a safe manner and report unsafe work conditions, equipment or practices to department supervisor and RFS system for resolution. Work closely with engineering technicians to maintain accurate records of CNC programs per USM procedures. Assure that backup drive for all CNC programs is maintained. Conduct routine process audits to ensure processes are being maintained within documented baseline parameters. Record on appropriate check lists or other documents. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Bachelor of science degree in engineering or equivalent experience. Daily technical support to production/operations. Set-up and conduct tests on cutting tools under operational conditions for improving performance or to obtain data for development, standardization and capability. Program, debug and troubleshoot CNC equipment. Conduct changeovers. Computer literate and working knowledge of Microsoft Office software. Knowledgeable in applicable quality standards and customer requirements (i.e., TS/QS), APQP, FMEA, DCP, SPC, 6 Sigma, Lean, Kaizen, and formal problem solving methods. Background in automotive manufacturing environment. Self-motivated with a strong unsolicited sense of urgency.
