Controls Engineer

The Automation/Controls Engineer is responsible for providing Tier 2 support in managing and maintaining all in-plant automation devices, including Allen Bradley PLC's, HMI's, and VFD's. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the efficient operation of automated manufacturing equipment and will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to enhance processes and resolve complex technical issues.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain equipment databases for automation devices.
- Provide Tier 2 technical expertise to troubleshoot and resolve operational issues across different teams.
- Evaluate and recommend component replacements or upgrades for obsolete items.
- Standardize components to streamline inventory management.
- Create technical documentation and conduct training sessions for maintenance staff on component replacements and troubleshooting.
- Monitor and maintain building SCADA systems to ensure proper functionality.
- Continuously enhance the reliability and efficiency of existing systems.
- Associate Degree Required, Bachelor's degree preferred in Engineering or related field.
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in programming industrial controls.
- Proficient in troubleshooting and performing complex system tests.
- Strong knowledge of automated manufacturing equipment and programming.
- Skilled in using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with databases, process monitoring systems, and MES (Manufacturing Execution System) is preferred.
- Experience in food processing & manufacturing is advantageous.
- Good vision and manual dexterity.
- Capable of sitting/standing for extended periods and working on a computer.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
