Boulder Community Health is seeking a Director of Safety and Emergency Management to assist in the development of departmental, divisional and hospital goals, and will assure the quality and appropriateness of service and/or care rendered by all employees within the Safety and Security department

Qualifications:
•College degree preferred.
•Healthcare safety management experience desired.
•Certified Healthcare Safety Professional certification desired, but not required.
•Minimum of five years experience in management within a hospital setting.

Responsibilities:
•Reports to the Vice President & Chief Operations Officer as to the safety of hospital facilities and the status of appropriate Environment of Care functions within hospital facilities including all security functions.
•Must perform hazard surveillance for all hospital properties. Renders technical guidance regarding site safety, hazardous material management, security, and emergency management. Provides documentation of hazard surveillance and performs follow up work to ensure implementation of technical renderings.
•Chairs Environment of Care committees. Provides direction to committee members regarding the function of the committee, and how it relates to JC objectives. Renders administrative support to the committee(s) by documenting committee activities and producing policies and procedures appropriate for committee objectives. Is responsible for forming, serving, and/or leading any other committee within the hospital, which shall serve to support the needs of established committees. Will represent within the Environment of Care committee, appropriate subcommittees.
•Represents hospital for assigned areas of responsibility during outside agency inspections, surveys or public representations. This may include JC surveys, state, county or federal government inspections, or any other meeting, which requires an accurate representation of hospital policies or procedures.
•Produces documentation in the form of policies and procedures, which function to protect the safety and well being of hospital employees, patients and visitors. Also, policy and procedural functions will extend into appropriate Environment of Care management areas.
•Monitors departmental policies and procedures; goals and objectives; provides technical assistance in their development and oversees timely review and/or revisions.
•Establishes, implements and participates in performance improvement plans for appropriate Environment of Care management areas in compliance with JC and hospital standards. Monitors results, evaluating quality of services based upon established benchmarks. Communicates and follows up on deficiencies when warranted as a result of performance improvement activities.
•Identifies and meets hospital staff safety orientation educational needs.
•Identifies, on an ongoing basis, hospital staff safety education needs, develops programs, provides training if appropriate and supports department-specific training efforts.
•Maintains effective internal and external communications; coordinates and integrates department operation with other hospital services and departments.
