BIOLASE, Inc. is a medical device company that develops, manufactures, markets, and sells laser systems in dentistry and medicine. BIOLASE's products are focused on better enabling clinicians to repair and restore patient's dental conditions while reducing the pain, fear, and anxiety generally associated with dentistry. We are currently seeking a Senior Buyer to be based in Corona, CA. In this position, you will perform a variety of functions regarding the planning and procurement of production inventory (raw, sub-assembly, service and FG) to meet Build Plan and inventory levels. Position requires strong negotiating skills and ability to develop multiple sources of supply globally for medical device products. Familiar with lean manufacturing and kanban programs. You will also provide purchasing support to engineering and the rest of the company.
**Duties and responsibilities** include, but are not limited to:
* Reviews MRP requirements and responds with appropriate generation of purchase orders to meet Build Plan and inventory levels
* Prepares requests for quotations for new parts and obtain competitive bids to generate comparisons to justify purchase orders
* Evaluates and selects suppliers based on capacity, capabilities, fit and cost. Negotiates pricing, deliveries, contracts and supplier agreements. Researches sources of supply and advises management on cost effective alternatives
* Reviews and processes purchasing requisitions for goods and services and ensures compliance with user requirements
* Prepares purchase orders according to the requirements and specifications, reviews for accuracy, obtains approval and place with suppliers
* Works independently to resolve deliver and quality issues with suppliers, while keeping management informed. Initiates remedial action for supplier quality issues and follows the action through to completion with Quality Assurance
* Provides liaison services between suppliers and departments of order status, procurement procedures, quality and technical issues. Communicates effectively with engineering and suppliers to resolve technical issues
* Assists lower level buyers with complex procurement activities
* Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
**Skills & Experience**
We are seeking an individual willing to work in a dynamic environment where each day will present new challenges. The ideal candidate will have at least ten years of purchasing experience, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and will have the ability to multi-task and handle various projects simultaneously. Knowledge of Word and Excel is required; B.A. degree, CPM and CPIM certifications are desired.
