Stella & Chewy’s, is looking for an Environmental, Health and Safety Director to join our Operations team.
The EHS Director will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role will focus on promoting a culture of safety, reducing risk, and enhancing operational efficiency within our pet food manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in EHS management, preferably within the food manufacturing industry, and a proven track record of leading successful safety initiatives.
Job Description
Design, implement, and maintain effective EHS policies, procedures, and programs tailored to the specific needs of the freeze-dried food and baked kibble manufacturing processes.
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, including OSHA, EPA, and other federal, state, and local regulations.
Conduct risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.
Develop and maintain emergency response and preparedness plans.
Provide training and education to employees at all levels on EHS policies, procedures, and best practices.
Promote a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement through regular communication and training sessions.
Develop and implement occupational health and safety programs, including ergonomics, industrial hygiene, and employee wellness initiatives.
Monitor workplace conditions and employee practices to ensure a safe working environment.
Manage and direct Safety investigations post health and safety incidents.
Oversee environmental programs, including waste management, recycling, air and water quality, and sustainability initiatives.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and maintain required documentation and reporting.
Establish and monitor EHS performance metrics and goals.
Prepare and present regular reports on EHS performance to senior management and regulatory agencies.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or similar certification is highly desirable.
7-10 years of EHS management experience, preferably in the food manufacturing industry.
In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulations and standards including worker’s compensation.
Proven ability to lead, develop, and implement effective EHS programs.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
