The Staff Accountant plays a crucial role in supporting the company's financial operations, ensuring accurate and transparent financial reporting and safeguarding the organization's assets. Responsibilities include preparing financial statements, managing general ledger accounts, resolving discrepancies, handling month-end entries, and serving as the primary liaison for the department, coordinating with staff, vendors, and various internal departments.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage and maintain the fixed assets register.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations and account schedules.
  • Perform month-end accruals and reconciliations.
  • Process accounts payable and prepare financial reconciliations, making payment recommendations based on vendor terms and history.
  • Record financial transactions through journal entries.
  • Support the Controller in ensuring a timely and accurate monthly close.
  • Compile data for regular reports, conduct ad hoc analyses, and prepare special reports as needed.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts.
  • Assist with financial and cash forecasting, and update forecast schedules.
  • Prepare payroll and timekeeping.
  • Handle accounts receivable tasks, including invoicing select customers.
  • Contribute to the development and review of annual operating budgets and performance projections.
  • Maintain effective communication with vendors and all internal departments.
  • Assist the Controller with the year-end audit.
Skills:
  • Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and effective time management skills.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to make decisions independently.
  • Experience in data collection, entry, and reporting with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and various accounting software.
  • Ethical handling of sensitive information and maintaining business confidentiality.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Ability to perform data analysis.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on accounting operations experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Experience with Dynamics 365 Business Central software preferred.
