Learn about a nursing career at RRH:#www.rrh.org/nurses What#s it like to work at RRH?:#Nurses | Kern County Hospitals JOB SUMMARY: Ensures the initial and ongoing appropriateness of all hospital inpatient medication orders. Oversees and, at times, participates in the compounding, packaging, labeling, and dispensing of individually-dosed and commonly-used inpatient and outpatient-infusion (including chemotherapy) medications. Furnishes current and comprehensible medication information to both medical personnel and patients. Responds appropriately and assumes leadership in emergency and other demanding situations. Adheres to pharmacy policies and procedures in accordance with established hospital policies and state and federal regulations. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Graduate of an Accredited School of Pharmacy and a licensed pharmacist in the State of California 2.# 1 year of recent hospital experience or recent graduate (within 2 years) from an accredited school of pharmacy 3.# Familiar with IV admixtures procedures, presenting medication dosing and substitution recommendations, basic understanding of pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, toxicology and appropriate drug information resources. 4.# Effective time management.# Ability to respond appropriately in high-priority, time sensitive situations. 5.# Knowledge of and willing to safely handle hazardous medications, including chemotherapeutics. 6. Ability and willingness to learn quickly 7. Capable of working routine 10 hour shifts Plus scheduled on-call.# Ability to work within a team setting, work well under stress (with or without others) and communicate effectively.
