The Mechanical Engineer professional will be contributing to the design-build phase for the construction of a Central Utility Plant (CUP) on premise and decommissioning of the existing CUP. Relevant Project ExperienceThe Mechanical Engineer Professional shall be able to quickly understand and master the requirements of the local state and federal jurisdictions and the requirements of each in relation to this project.Experience in the resolution of unforeseen site and design conditions/problems and propose cost effective technical solutions.Experience conducting inspections and inventories of such structures to identify and note deficiencies, problems, or the general physical condition of such structures.Must have six (6) years of experience practicing mechanical engineering.Must have six (6) years of experience inspecting mechanical construction.The ideal candidate would be able to produce three (3) examples of a successful completed project of similar scope and scale to this task order.Position DescriptionConducts portions of daily inspections of site work, building construction work; documents discrepancies, code violations, improper materials, or techniques in the application of materials, substandard or poor-quality workmanship; monitors schedules on various aspects of ongoing daily activities to identify and mitigate project slippage and coordinate project phasing.Maintain accurate and complete files relating to the Construction Management (CM) services on the project that the Government may inspect at any time.Reviews contractor's submittals and RFIs; maintains accurate and complete job files including as-built drawings and specifications; identifies progress delays and recommends appropriate corrective measures to the lead engineer toward mitigating delays and maintaining the progress schedule.Submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports indicating work completed, work in progress with estimated completion dates, work scheduled and outstanding work.Utilize computerized management system applications, processing requests for information, project engineering, scheduling, communications, design assessments, safety compliance, testing compliance, record keeping, construction administration, budget control, change management, construction reporting, and documentation management control.RequirementsRequired Skills and KnowledgeKnowledge of low Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems, testing and balancing, operations, sheet metal duct systems and control systems including direct digital controls.Knowledge of centralized plants including chillers, boilers, oxygen conveyance, and cooling towers.Ability to provide cost estimates and take-offs for the mechanical contract modifications.Ability to determine compliance of workmanship, materials, equipment and installed work with contract requirements and industry standards.Working knowledge and understanding of building, safety, and environmental codes.Working knowledge of environmental, civil, safety, architectural and structural fields.Knowledge of governmental contracting procedures, principles, guidelines and public law.Communication, Language, and Software SkillsAbility to utilize a variety of software programs to monitor, update, and produce work products by applying knowledge of computer literacy.Ability to exercise good interpersonal skills.Education, Certifications, AffiliationAn ABET-accredited Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an institution of higher learning.
