Fort Leonard Wood, situated in the heart of the Ozark Mountains, is a sportsmans paradise with some of the most beautiful scenery, hosting many large lakes, rivers, streams, and forests ideal for fishing and hunting. Fort Leonard Wood covers more than 61,000 acres located in Pulaski County with a population of nearly 52,607. Bordering the installation to the north are the towns of Waynesville and St. Robert, with an estimated combined population of 9,170. The installation is situated between St Louis and Springfield, Missouri 1 to 2 hours respectively. Also 30 minutes equidistant between Rolla and Lebanon along I-44. It is also a great place to raise a family along with a low cost of living.

Responsibilities:

Reviews patient's medical and dental history for conditions such as medical illnesses and use of drugs which may alter dental hygiene treatment; examines teeth and surrounding tissues for evidence of plaque and periodontal disease; inspects mouth and throat for evidence of disease such as oral cancer; and interprets routine x-rays to identify tooth structures, calculus, and abnormalities such as cavities and deep periodontal pockets. Refers abnormalities to dentist. Plans dental hygiene treatment for patient including assessment of the problem, oral hygiene care required, and sequence of appointments. Performs complete oral prophylaxis on ambulatory and non-ambulatory patients to include deep subgingival scaling, root planing, and curettage under local anesthesia as directed by and under supervision if dentist. Polishes teeth and applies stannous fluoride. Instructs patients in home care after curettage.

Qualifications:

1. This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Applicants with verified positive test results shall be refused employment.

2. Employee must possess and maintain an American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate of training.

3. Must be certified as a radiographer and have successfully completed an educational program that meets or exceeds the standards described in 42 CFR Part 75.

4. Incumbent will be required to receive seasonal influenza immunization.

5. Pre-employment physical required.

6. Uniform will be required.

7. Incumbent will be required to receive seasonal influenza immunization. Employee may be required to undergo periodic Tuberculin tine and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) testing.
