Field Engineer

This project will take place in the Seattle Washington area - Full relocation provided for Canadians or US citizens. This is a permanent full time role for an interchange improvement project. Other heavy Civil projects to follow.

Reporting to the on site Construction Manager or another designated team members, the Field Engineer will provide field-engineering information to the project management team and sub-trades to ensure construction works comply with all the design drawings, engineering standards, codes, and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

Meet daily with project crews to review production schedules and confirm all materials, equipment, and resources are readily available for production to continue on schedule and within budget. Collect, coordinate, and analyze shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements, and project data throughout the project to ensure quality and contract specification compliance. Provide technical input for project work plans and scheduling. Identify risk elements of production, materials, equipment, or processes that could negatively impact the budget or schedule. Evaluate daily production, schedule, and budget projections to accurately track project performance. Document daily activities using company-approved methods and technologies. Notify team members and managers of any significant schedule changes and recommend solutions for management consideration. Perform additional assignments as directed by management. Remit accurate project quantity input and controls using assigned project cost coding to ensure project financials are accurately reported. Manage cost coding with the finance and accounting teams regarding employee time, materials, equipment, and subcontractor needs. Review project specifications for quality assurance at the beginning, during, and after work completion. Initiate and manage appropriate certificates, inspections, and other documentation regarding construction production on the project site. Work with construction crews and engineering leaders to plan field layout on the project site, ensuring appropriate utility and commercial lines are marked before production begins. Initiate and manage any permits needed before work can begin. Coordinate subcontractor work methods, schedules, and crews as needed. Reconcile job close-out checklists with owner representatives and field crews at the end of the project.

Required Knowledge and Experience

Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering or Construction Management disciplines; or an acceptable combination of education and previous experience. It is essential to have experience with roads infrastructure with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the Field. As a Field Engineer or Project Coordinator, preferably in project engineering or a heavy civil construction environment. Knowledge of construction equipment & techniques, drawings & specifications, building materials, and required standards applicable to the project. Proficient in software related to the construction industry (e.g., Primavera Scheduling software, AutoCAD, SAP, etc.). Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.). Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral. Flexibility to work in both field and office settings.
