We operate a 9 bed acute care hospital at our main Portola campus, which includes a 24 hour, physician staffed, emergency room and ambulance service.Our patients are at the heart of Eastern Plumas Health Care's mission. We provide you with the best quality health care as cost-effectively as possible. EPHC prides itself in excellent customer service.The Hospital Admitting Clerk is responsible for greeting, interviewing, and admitting patients to Eastern Plumas Health Care services. He/she is responsible for obtaining accurate required information for the medical record, and credit/collection purposes. The Hospital Admitting Clerk collects co-pays and deductibles when necessary and will perform the duties of a Cashier. These duties are to be performed in a prompt, friendly, and accurate manner while maintaining confidentiality. Additional duties as assigned.This is a full-time position from Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with an hour lunch break. The role includes working holidays and occasional weekends.Responsibilities: Delivers, with enthusiasm and empathy, quality service to all customers. Must be able to adapt to the diversity of our customers with no regard to sex, age, race, or religious beliefs.Must be able to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all regulations as outlined in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Ac t of 1996 (HIPPA)Must be knowledgeable and proficient in the operation of all telecommunication and computer systems utilized by EPHC.Maintains excellent work habits, which are consistent with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Maintains a professional, cooperative working relationship with other departments, agencies and company personnel with who work must be coordinated or interfaced.Ensures that all admissions are accurately completed, and all patient data required for billing and collection purposes is obtained.Actively supports EPHC Mission and Values by modeling the concept of the patient comes first in, relationships, integrity, fiscal responsibility, and ethical behavior. Position Requirements:Education & Experience:Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Additional education in a hospital environment or medical billing office is desired. A combination of education and experience which leads to the possession of the requisite skills and abilities will be considered.Skills:Outstanding interpersonal, communication and telephone skills are required. Effective verbal, and written skills, including accurate spelling, legible printing and/or handwriting. Demonstrated ability to handle public contact, with excellent guest relations. Ability to work in a busy environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities while maintaining an effective office workflow. The ability to type 35 cwmp and operate office machinery is necessary.Physical Requirements:Ability to perform repetitive motions with fingers, hands, arms, neck and shoulders. This position includes bending, reaching, squatting and extended periods of sittingKnowledge of basic office procedures, Medical terminology, ICD 10 diagnosis codes and governmental billing and insurance codes is desired. Experience in financial counseling is highly preferred.
