Job Description

YOUR MISSION (The Job Description):

The Network Administrator will play an important role for managing the day-to-day functionality of all network-related hardware and software. The Network Administrator will be responsible to work with the management team and property staff to discuss system requirements, proposed changes, priorities, schedules, and service standards; works with Director to achieve strategic, long-range goals; consults with Director on equipment performance, output quality and maintenance schedule. This is an on-site position at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.

THE NITTY-GRITTY (The Essential Job Duties):

This role will work closely with Information Systems Director to:

Evaluate workload and capacity of computer systems to determine feasibility of expanding or enhancing computer operations; recommends improvements in computer systems

  • Assist Director in the layout and installation of new systems or modification of existing systems
  • Work with the Director to create, maintain and test an effective disaster recovery plan for the property; conducts periodic testing of disaster recovery plan, including routine restoration of system backups. Responsible for ensuring proper pickup and delivery of off-site tape backups
  • Responsible for configuring system access for all users and all systems in conjunction with the Director
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Monthly operating system patches/updates
  • Virtual Server Administration
  • Network Switch Administration
  • Nightly Backup Administration

MUST HAVE'S
  • Assimilate information and clearly communicate with users, management staff and outside sources of information.
  • Review and comprehend all necessary documentation
  • Perform work on-property during and outside of regularly scheduled shifts as business and departmental situations dictate
  • Be available by telephone and pager during off-hours
  • Operate a computer keyboard
  • Reliable transportation
WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE'S
  • Demonstrated knowledge of data center procedures required
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Linux servers
  • A bachelor's degree in management information systems or computer science, or equivalent training; preferably MCSE certified
THE WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Work is physical in nature and requires physical mobility including but not limited to balancing, bending, carrying up to 50 pounds, climbing, crawling, and reaching. These actions are required to install and replace terminals and printers
  • Operate in a working environment that is subject to varying levels of sound and vibration. Persons in this position are at times subjected to hazards such as paper dust
