Round Mountain is an open-pit mine located in Nevada, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world. The mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods and processes ore by mill and heap leach. Kinross began operating the mine in 2003, and it has since become a continuous improvement leader in the Company’s portfolio. Round Mountain poured its 15 millionth ounce in 2018. Round Mountain and the nearby Bald Mountain mine make up Kinross’ Nevada operations. The Round Mountain mine is an important contributor to the Nye County economy and, working with local stakeholders, has helped achieve significant improvements in healthcare and education in the area. Job Responsibilities Project Management: Lead and manage multiple projects related to processing and surface infrastructure from conception through completion, including planning, design, budgeting and capital justification, scheduling, and commissioning. Engineering Design: Review and/or prepare detailed engineering designs, specifications, and drawings for mechanical and civil infrastructure projects, such as process plant improvements, dewatering/pumping systems and pad and pond construction. Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including mining operations, processing, maintenance, and environmental departments, to ensure project alignment and integration. Business Partner Management: Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and consultants to ensure timely delivery of materials, equipment, and services. Arrange performance management processes to ensure services delivered are value add. Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure all projects meet industry standards and company specifications. Safety Compliance: Promote and enforce strict adherence to safety protocols and regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for all project personnel. Budgeting and Cost Control: Develop project budgets, monitor expenditures, and manage cost control processes to ensure projects are completed within financial constraints. Reporting: Prepare and present regular project status reports to senior management, highlighting progress, risks, and mitigation strategies. Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve technical and operational issues that arise during project execution, applying innovative and effective solutions. Sustainability: Ensure projects are designed and executed with a focus on environmental sustainability and compliance with regulatory requirements. Qualifications and Skill Requirements Mandatory Requirements for this position: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in project engineering, preferably in the mining industry. Technical Skills: Proficiency in engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks), project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera), and familiarity with relevant industry codes and standards. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information to diverse audiences, facilitating cross-functional collaboration. Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Safety Focus: Deep commitment to safety and a thorough understanding of safety regulations and practices in the mining industry.
