Job Summary

Volkert Inc is seeking a highly skilled Senior Drainage Project Engineer to join our Southwest Region team in Texas. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and analyzing stormwater management and storm drain systems, as well as soil erosion and sediment control systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect and analyze data for inclusion in project plans and reports
  • Use computer engineering software to design and analyze stormwater management and storm drain systems
  • Analyze and design hydrologic and hydraulic models for transportation improvement projects
  • Obtain permits from regulatory and water management agencies
  • Assist in preparing project plans using CADD software
  • Contribute to the preparation and modification of engineering reports and calculations
  • Prepare and assist in preparing project construction details, quantities, cost estimates, and project specifications
  • Review project quantity estimates, details, and check calculations and drawings for compliance to project requirements
  • Prepare and assist in preparing project schedules
  • Collaborate with multiple disciplines, subconsultants, and other professionals to deliver quality projects within budget and schedule
  • Oversee project design activities, supervise production efforts, and mentor junior-level support staff and designers

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's of Science in Civil Engineering (Master's in water resources fields a plus)
  • Valid Professional Engineering Licensure (P.E.) preferred or ability to acquire it within 6 months
  • 10+ years of relative/progressive drainage/water resources and TxDOT experience
  • Experience with MicroStation, Geopak, Civil3D, Storm CAD, ORD, ICPR, HEC-RAS, GIS, and/or SUDA software
  • Previous TxDOT drainage design experience and strong knowledge of TxDOT standards and procedures
