GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
Performs difficult professional and administrative work managing the County’s Senior Center; does related work as required. Work is performed under the general supervision of the County Manager. Supervision is exercised over department personnel.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS:
Developing, implementing, and administering the programs and activities at the Senior Center in Warren County which includes providing coordination and oversight of service delivery and activities designed to improve the quality of life for seniors.

Promotes, plans and coordinates a diverse program offering specialized activities for senior citizens.
Oversees counseling and assistance provided to Medicare recipients on Medicare benefits.
Conducts short-term and long-range planning to ensure availability of resources for senior programs.
Develops new programs and/or activities in response to demonstrated need.
Manages center congregate and home delivered meal programs.
Oversees work of Center’s staff and volunteers.
Prepares and manages Center’s operating budget.
Prepares monthly records and reports on Center’s activities.
Applies for and manages grants including all responsibility for all reporting requirements.
Provides seniors with referral information regarding community services and resources.
Speaks to community groups and organizations on program activities.
Coordinates the preparation to be certified as a Senior Center of Excellence
Provides the administrative support and follow-up required for the Aging Advisory Board and HCCBG (Home Care and Community Block Grant) committee
Performs related tasks as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
General knowledge of the philosophy, principles and practices of senior center programs; general knowledge of the County’s policies and procedures; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with County officials, associates and the general public; ability to prepare related reports.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a four-year degree in a human services field such as social work, psychology, gerontology or related discipline and one year experience in human services or senior adult services; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to perform sedentary work exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body.
