POSITION IMPORTANCE TO MISSION:

The Clinical Program Director oversees all Cancer Support Community Arizona (CSCAZ) clinical program development. This role develops and sustains internal relationships to increase clinical program delivery and enhance mission income. In addition, the role develops clinical program policy across multiple program-delivery sites in full compliance with state regulations and the Cancer Support Community program philosophy. This position will work collaboratively throughout the organization to ensure that clinical program efforts are consistent with, and supportive of, CSCAZ’s overall strategic plan and vision. An integral member of the program team, the Clinical Program Director interacts with CSCAZ participants and caregivers, potential participants, clinical staff, trainees, partners, and volunteers, and has a strong understanding of CSCAZ’s psychosocial support for cancer patients and their loved ones. This position reports to the CEO.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsible for day-to-day clinical program delivery and supervision of the Clinical Training Program across all CSCAZ locations and satellite offices.

Oversees a Clinical Team of Licensed Mental Health professionals across four disciplines (i.e., Psychologist, Marriage and Family Therapist, Social Work, Counseling) and up to 6 clinical trainees, responsible for the delivery of group support, member intakes, individual counseling, and didactic trainings.

Conducts regular Clinical Program team and individual meetings to support a team-based environment to deliver high-quality care most effectively and collaboratively. Provides supervision, guidance, support, and expectations to ensure success of team members and promote efficiency, communication, and collegiality among staff.

Provides direct, indirect, and secondary supervision and consultation to all clinical staff and trainees through Clinical Team Meetings, Trainee Group Supervision, and Individual Supervision.

Offers direct services to patients, improve referral systems, and continually assess community needs. This includes facilitation of support groups, performing therapy services, and crisis prevention and management.

Coordinates and manages the Cancer Support Source (CSS) distress screening tool process. This process includes issuing the tool to all new participants and caregivers upon joining CSCAZ and at regular scheduled intervals; ensuring that the data is used to inform the participants and caregivers of the ways in which CSCAZ services can meet their unique needs; and collaborating with senior leadership to use the results to inform program development and outcome reporting.

Acts as liaison to the Professional Advisory Board (PAB) by convening tri-annual meetings, encouraging engagement of PAB members in CSCAZ program delivery and fundraising efforts, and supporting members to be champions of CSCAZ services at their home institutions.

Occasional travel to offsite CSCAZ programs, community-based organizations, and hospitals/healthcare providers for support group facilitation, trainings, conferences, and to provide supervision.

Knowledgeable of, and willing to adhere to, prevailing governmental laws and regulations regarding the provision of mental health services and Ethical & Professional Standards as designated across the disciplines of Psychology, Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, and Social Work (i.e., Board of Psychology; Board of Behavioral Sciences), including, but not limited to:

o Limits of Confidentiality.

o HIPAA regulations and compliance.

o Reporting of child abuse/neglect.

o Reporting of elder abuse/neglect.

o Guidelines for suspected suicidality/homicidality.

o Maintenance of Records.

Utilize clinical experience to ensure accordance of the Program with CSC Program Standards as defined in the Program Manual and Policies & Procedures.

Provides oversight of the core components of the CSC Program, including group support; educational workshops; short-term/one-on-one counseling; children, teen, and family programs.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities include:

Ensures all clinical program staff has up to date AZ state licenses and malpractice insurance coverage.

Participates in CSC Program Directors’ monthly conference calls and interacts with Program Directors from other facilities.

Participates in CSC Program Directors’ monthly CTF conference calls, as needed.

Oversees the implementation and development of distress screening, CancerSupportSource.

Responds to first-time callers in distress as needed and ensures prompt response to all community member calls by staff and volunteers.

Oversees and coordinates coverage of all clinical groups, networking groups, and short-term counseling, providing coverage when no one is available.

Attends board meetings as needed.

Direct Clinical Work

Facilitates support groups, including weekly dedicated groups, drop-in groups, and manualized short-term therapy groups, as needed.

Supervises doctoral-level Practicum Students and Psychological Assistants.

Provides crisis management as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Minimum of five years of supervisory or management experience to include personnel selection, training, evaluation, and management of associate clinicians. Responsibilities also include planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems in collaboration with the Vice President of Program.

Education/Experience:

Minimum Master's degree in a related mental health field (MA, MSW, PhD, etc.). Minimum of five years postgraduate experience. Registered with the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health and in good standing. Must be a licensed Mental Health Professional at the independent license level with ability to provide supervision. (LMFT, LCSW, PsyD, PhD, etc.)

Strong clinical skills, including group therapy experience and ability to work with issues surrounding chronic and life-threatening illness.

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from community members, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, it is essential that the individual be proficient in Microsoft Office, especially MS Excel and Outlook, as well as in database software, on Microsoft operating systems.

Certificates and Licenses:

Independently Licensed MFT, LCSW, or Clinical Psychologist in the State of Arizona.
