Basic Function:

The Claims Director serves as a front-line Manager, pivotal in achieving team objectives by nurturing and leading a team of dedicated claims professionals and a paralegal. This role demands a blend of adept technical claims handling, effective people management, and strong leadership capabilities. The Claims Director provides managerial support, guidance, and mentorship to their team while driving employee engagement, performance, and growth.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate employee engagement and foster the development of adjusters, claims attorneys, and paralegals.
  • Drive Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and adherence to Best Practices through managerial diary and file audits.
  • Review coverage analyses drafted by the team and lead litigation management efforts.
  • Identify and address key issues and trends, providing solutions to senior claims management.
  • Allocate incoming claims and ensure efficient management of cash flow needs for claim payments.
  • Collaborate with Finance to manage claim reserves and regularly update reinsurers on claim developments.
  • Oversee First Notice of Loss processes and participate in refining claims operations.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to update guidelines and participate in presentations to Membership.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for claims activity.

Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • 10+ years of Claims handling experience with a JD from an ABA accredited law school.
  • 5+ years of Claims Management experience demonstrating leadership and people management skills.
  • Expert knowledge of Claims handling practices including coverage analysis, litigation management, and negotiation.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong rapport-building and relationship effectiveness skills.

  • Technical leadership abilities with a proactive approach to addressing challenges.

Must be located in Tampa area. This is an in person position Tuesday - Friday.

Salary Range: $200K - $210K - annually, plus bonus.
