AS A METALLURGICAL ENGINEERING CO-OP, YOU WILL:

Use laboratory sample preparation equipment such as hand tools, band saws, abrasive cut-off saws, abrasive grinding wheels, mounting press, metallographic polisher, and etchants to enable further laboratory analysis.

Perform laboratory testing and analysis using equipment such as: hardness testing machine, 2D and 3D microscopes, scanning electron microscope, salt fog corrosion test chambers, optical emission spectroscopy chemical analyzer, etc.

Summarize testing and analysis in communication with Metallurgical engineers and internal customers in the form of data tables, as well as informal and formal reports.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

Undergraduate student currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Materials Science Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Corrosion Engineering, Welding and Materials Joining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field

Good communication skills and collaborative ability to work well in a team

Ability to manage complexity, learn from others, see projects through to completion - Hands-on skills and attitude for using laboratory tools and equipment

Legal authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship for this role will not be provided

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

Undergraduate student currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Materials Science Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Corrosion Engineering, Welding and Materials Joining Engineering or Mechanical Engineering

Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher

Familiarity with shop tools and a hands-on willingness to process test samples

Basic understanding of metallurgy and/or materials science

Excellent interpersonal skills

Reliable transportation- Sidney has multiple locations and will need own transportation for commuting

About our Location
The newly renovated Sidney campus has 1M square feet of manufacturing floor with an additional 120k square feet of leading-edge lab facilities. Through our 30 years of scroll compressor expertise, our air conditioning related products help bring comfort and convenience in commercial, industrial and residential spaces.
