Job Description:

Reporting directly to the Director of Sales, this position is responsible for the sale of G&L Tube products and services.Provides the key communications link between the customer and the company in support of G&L's strategy and initiatives. Receives (by telephone, fax or email) requests for quotations, orders, lead times, and other customer matters.Makes quotations, enters orders into ERP system, and relays pertinent order information to customers.Ensures outstanding customer service and long-term relationships. Works closely with all G&L departments as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Handles inbound sales calls, faxes, and e-mail inquiries and converts them into orders
  • Promotes sales growth by proactively seeking new opportunities
  • Prepares formal customer quotations
  • Follows up on inquiries, enters and revises orders
  • Monitors account activities including special shipping, pricing, or other special programs
  • Answers technical and business concerns of customers, involves other G&L personnel as appropriate to address customer questions or concerns
  • Checks with accounting department concerning credit approval for new accounts and credit status of current customers
  • Communicates regularly with production control in advance of assigning shipment promise dates to ensure on-time shipment of product
  • Works with mill personnel and Sales Reps to consider profitability targets when establishing competitive or contract pricing
  • Builds and maintains customer relationships, occasionally visits major accounts or invites major accounts to G&L Tube facility for a tour
  • Investigates and resolves customer problems or complaints
  • Develops and maintains a friendly relationship with teammates
  • Acts as a back up for other team members when needed
  • Performs additional duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and execute tasks accurately in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to come up with creative solutions to complex issues.
  • Quick aptitude for understanding products, manufacturing process, customers, and markets
  • Occasional travel to customer locations
  • Continuing training and education
  • Punctuality and excellent attendance
  • Flexibility to work over as required by workload
  • 2-4 years Customer Service experience (in Steel Tubing or Steel Industry related preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (is preferred)
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Windows-based applications
  • Bilingual (being fluent in Spanish) is a plus
  • Personality - energetic, outgoing, enthusiastic
  • Teamwork - works as contributing member; gives and welcomes feedback; contributes to creating a positive team spirit and fun work environment
  • Adaptability - adapts to changes in the work environment; manages competing demands
  • Dependability - follows instructions and keeps commitments
