Transportation Engineer

**YOUR ROLE**
Transportation Engineer is a role that develops plans for surface transportation projects, according to established engineering standards of local government, municipal, state or federal construction policies. This position works closely with Transportation leaders to design or prepare plans for new transportation systems or parts of systems, such as airports, commuter trains, highways, streets, bridges, drainage structures, or roadway lighting.
**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**
You prepare designs, specifications, or estimates for transportation facilities.
You plan modifications of existing streets, highways, or freeways to improve traffic flow.
You investigate traffic problems and recommend methods to improve traffic flow or safety.
You check construction plans, design calculations, or cost estimations to ensure completeness, accuracy, or conformity to engineering standards or practices.
You prepare administrative, technical, or statistical reports on traffic-operation matters, such as accidents, safety measures, or pedestrian volume or practices.
You evaluate transportation systems or traffic control devices or lighting systems to determine need for modification or expansion.
You estimate transportation project costs.
You model transportation scenarios to evaluate the impacts of activities such as new development or to identify possible solutions to transportation problems.
You confer with contractors, utility companies, or government agencies to discuss plans.
You perform out-of-office duties such as project site visits, site inspection and attend meetings.

**WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE**
You have a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with focus on transportation design studies or similar field with Engineer-In-Training certification and the desire to pursue Professional Engineer licensure.
0-3 years of successful design and consulting experience within Civil Engineering.
You have academic or on the job experience using Autodesk Civil 3D, MicroStation, or related design programs.
You have successfully worked in teams and have outstanding listening and communication skills.

This position is located in our Minot, ND office; however occasional travel to other locations and business conferences may be required on an occasional basis.
