Job Summary

As a Front Desk Representative, you will work under general supervision to ensure patients have a positive first impression of the organization by completing the check-in process effectively and efficiently.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Receive and direct phone calls, patients, and other visitors. Respond to routine inquiries concerning practice services, hours of operations, and general questions regarding the practice.
  • Assist with patient registration duties by collecting and verifying insurance cards and photocopying/scanning appropriate documentation. Verify patient identity and demographics and enter changes into the practice management system. Direct patients to the appropriate waiting area.
  • Schedule, confirm, and verify patient appointments. Arrange follow-up visits and referral appointments.
  • Verify patient insurance information by contacting/calling the appropriate insurance carrier and/or utilizing automated insurance verification systems.
  • Receive, sort, and distribute mail to the appropriate department.
  • Scan patient documents including insurance information into the EMR system.
  • De-escalate situations involving dissatisfied customers, offering patient assistance and support.
  • Provide clerical support to other departments.
  • Collaborate and work as a team with other departments.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Proficient interpersonal relations and communication skills.
  • Follows all organization policies and procedures regarding insurance protocols and procedures.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Upholds HIPAA and PHI regulations.
  • Punctual and dependable for assigned shifts.
Preferred Experience
  • 2+ years' experience in customer service or healthcare facility preferred.
  • Experience with ATHENA EMR.
  • Physical Requirements
  • Office environment.
  • Sitting, standing, walking, and/or moving up to 8 hours per day.
  • Lifting up to 25 pounds.
