Description

Position Summary:

Under general supervision, counsel with emphasis on prevention and/or behavior modification. Works with individuals and groups to promote optimum mental health. May help individuals deal with addictions and substance abuse, family parenting and marital problems, suicide, stress management, problems with self-esteem and issues associated with mental and emotional health. Requires CADC Certification (Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor).

Work Schedule:

9:00A - 5:30P and scheduled on-call work

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Community Treatment Services
  • Ensure authorization by completing required requests for authorization forms
  • Complete and enter ANSA, CANS in the GA Medicaid/APS Healthcare web site
  • Prepare and maintain records of client progress and services performed, reports changes in client condition to manager or supervisor
  • Provide case management and collaborate with community linkages to assist clients in obtaining essential resources
  • Maintain communication with clients collateral contacts such as counselors, case workers, etc. in order to discuss his or her progress, or no-shows for sessions
  • Create, complete and/or update treatment plans according to significant changes in preferences , desires, goals and abilities of the client
  • Participate in case reviews, consulting with the team to evaluate the clients needs and plan for continuing services
  • Complete discharge paperwork and safety plans for clients released from MH services
  • Conduct treatment groups
  • Attend required clinical supervision and department staff meetings and trainings
  • Meet with caseload weekly for individualized treatment
  • May be shadowed by peers on the job
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Masters degree in a related field from an accredited college or university OR Bachelors degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Two years of related experience OR One year experience at the lower level HCP100.
  • Requires certificate as an addiction counselor from the Georgia Addiction Counselors Association or equivalent certification. Requires CADC Certification.
