Job Description:
Data Acquisition Senior Developers construct the programs, processes and procedures to extract, transform, integrate and load data into the data warehouse or other analytical data repositories, and to populate the departmental and individual levels of the data warehouse from the atomic level. Senior Developers regularly interact with a variety of constituents who will consume these data as Wheels “source of truth” working closely to ensure consistent definitions, business rules, calculations and other requirements for all.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
Develop target data models in collaboration with other Data Team members.
Collaborate with various data consumers (business users, product development, report content authors and IT) to capture data requirements; act as “gate keeper” to identify conflicting requirements or anomalies in source data
Data mining to locate source data and validate completeness of business rule.
Design, develop, and maintain data acquisition application (Extract, Transform, and Load procedures) using Information Builders iWay, Microsoft SQL tools, Sybase Power Designer and other similar tools.
Package data model and ETL changes for deployment and promotion
Support Quality Assurance testing of data objects in isolation or as part of other code releases.
Develop standards/best practices in ETL design and maintenance.
Develop standards/best practices in application development, documentation, build automation and other IT development tools and processes
Enforce database design standards across data warehouse team and other teams within the organization.
Perform code reviews.
Ongoing support of back-end data processes including bug fixing and performance improvement.
General assistance with complex query development and SQL performance tuning across IT
Communicate with project management and team lead on status of assigned tasks, estimates of proposed tasks, and actual time spent on completion of project tasks.
Mentor and guide other team members as needed.
Participate in POC for new concepts to determine if it is a viable solution.
Develop reusable and simplified data models appropriate to support common requirements.
Work with authors of Visual Analytics (Qlik, Tableau) solutions to define source data requirements, create data extracts and properly segregate transformation logic between enterprise repositories and analytics apps
Collaborate with department and client reporting teams to inform comprehensive and consistent data models
