DEPARTMENT SUMMARY:

The Supply Chain department provides many services to our multi-hospital organization and clinics. Our services include procurement, sourcing, value analysis, contracting, inventory management, distribution, courier services, mail services, sterile inventory, and code cart management. Our team works in partnership with clinical and business teams to deliver high quality products and services at the best possible cost.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The

Senior Analyst, Clinical Value

is r esponsible for establishing and leading the supply expense agenda for assigned teams in the Value Analysis Program. This position is responsible for reviewing and optimizing the group purchasing organization's contract portfolio and developing and executing product standardization with the value analysis committees. The Senior Analyst has a broad enterprise and segment influence and builds alliances with Hospital Leadership, Physicians and Supply Chain to successfully execute clinical supply expense plans. This position does not directly manage other caregivers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

Supports organization wide, leadership level clinical value analysis reporting. This includes financial, clinical quality, and outcomes measures as well as business development support and internal consulting to operations.

Coordinates Value Analysis activities, including team meetings and interdisciplinary team workflow and data submission for the value analysis process.

Presents educational materials, financial performance and clinical outcomes data, and other ad-hoc materials to various system groups.

May serve on a project, facility leadership team, or Health Future team as the value analysis representative.

Performs research and data analysis, and develops strategies and relevant tools as appropriate, to monitor and identify potential savings.

Drives positive change through program definition and driving initiatives that support the health care organizations' clinical expense agenda.

Utilizes broad enterprise and segment influence by building alliances with hospital leadership, physicians and supply chain to successfully execute their clinical supply expense plans.

Develops, implements, monitors and verifies product standardization, contract compliance, product utilization, cost data, process improvements and waste.

Serves as primary resource for physicians to assist with navigating the value analysis process.

Administers value analysis software to assure all requests are evaluated in a timely manner, documentation is thorough and understandable for future reference, and stakeholders have access to value analysis information and decisions.

Provides clinical insight and leadership for A3 documentation, determining outcomes expectations, and outcomes tracking for value analysis projects or trials.

Engages system wide clinical leadership, caregiver education, and clinical education in development of clinical product utilization standards, training, and monitoring. Ensures communication and education regarding product and procedure changes occurs in all affected departments, to include physicians and medical management personnel.

Develops communication materials for Value Analysis activities to keep all stakeholders informed, including newsletters, system communication tools, and the SharePoint site.

Responsible for tracking, reporting, and improving value analysis metrics including expense margin improvement.

Partners with Health Future owner members to assess value analysis opportunities and coordinates multi health system projects for St. Charles.

EDUCATION:

Required:

Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare, Business, or other related field. Education in a clinical area such as nursing, surgery, or other allied health profession. Preferred:

MBA or MHA.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:

Required:

Valid Oregon driver’s license and ability to meet St. Charles Health System driving requirements. Ability to travel to business functions/trainings/meetings and all St. Charles Health System worksites. Preferred:

Related medical license or certification. Certified Materials and Resource Professional (CMRP), Certified Value Analysis Health Professional (CVAHP), or similar credential.

EXPERIENCE:

Required:

Minimum of six (6) years combined experience to include three (3) years’ experience in acute hospital clinical supply chain and three (3) years of clinical work experience in a related field. Demonstrated understanding of supply chain practices and nomenclature. Preferred:

Project management and group facilitation experience.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to perform the job safely.

Skills: General: Communication/Interpersonal Must have excellent communication skills and ability to interact with a diverse population and professionally represent SCHS. Ability to effectively interact and communicate with all levels within SCHS and physicians. Strong team working and collaborative skills. Demonstrated problem solving skills. Must be able to facilitate projects across all campuses and SCMG clinics. Demonstrated strong commitment to customer service.

Organizational Ability to multi-task and work independently. Attention to detail. Excellent organizational skills, written and oral communication and customer service skills, particularly in dealing with stressful personal interactions. Goal oriented, with emphasis on creating efficiencies, reducing costs, and improving quality of patient care delivery.

Mathematical Skills: Performs intermediate to advanced math (analysis, statistics, significant data or number manipulation). Ability to convert data into information, by performing advanced analysis, including savings validation analysis (post product conversion), forecasting, risk assessment, process analysis, and total cost of ownership.

Computer Intermediate ability and experience in computer applications, specifically MS Office. Demonstrated knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database software programs. Demonstrated hands-on working knowledge of electronic medical record and materials management information systems and software.
