Featuring an inviting ground- floor restaurant, The Apparatus Room, the hotel partners with local distillers, brewers, farmer s and other edible sundry purveyors to deliver and authentic Detroit experience. Detroit Foundation is owned and managed by Aparium Hotel Group which was founded in 2011 by Chicago hospitality executive and entrepreneur Mario Tricoci and luxury hotel veteran Kevin Robinson. The duo saw a clear need for a company that could bring c-suite service and accommodations to underserved, yet distinct and important cities, while maintaining and celebrating the unadulterated character of each. THE ROLE
The House Attendant reports to the Director of Rooms and Guest Services Managers. The hotel house person provides housekeepers with the items needed to clean guest rooms and helps stock the carts. They are also responsible for more labor-intensive tasks, such a flipping mattresses, hanging pictures and moving furniture or debris. They also work closely with hotel supervisors to ensure that all room accessories and electronics are in working order. It's also the houseman's responsibility to comply with security regulations, restock the housekeeping shelves, and make sure that outside areas, like the patio and front entrance are kept clean, tidy and in working order.
Additionally, the House Attendant takes care of common areas in a hotel, such as the lobby, restrooms and employee restrooms. As part of the housekeeping staff, a House Attendant must be detail-oriented, have good customer service skills, be able to lift heavy
WHAT WILL YOU DO
  • Uphold and role model the company's principles of People, Place and Character; and ensure you are also modeling the way of our values that drive collaboration, intuition and translocal hospitality; use discretion and respect the privacy of the hotel's clients and guest
  • Maintain and clean a hotel behind the scenes by helping the housekeepers
  • Clean hallways, floors, and doorways; and taking out the trash
  • Assist with needs of the housekeepers during shifts to remove linen and other required tasks
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
  • Previous work experience within Housekeeping
  • A flexible schedule, as sometimes you may have to work evenings, weekends, or a holiday as events don't only happen during the week
  • A passion for cleanliness, initiative to learn and pride in those we serve
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning techniques, safety procedures and requirements
  • Conversational proficiency of the English language to receive and execute verbal and written communication and direction
  • Adaptable interpersonal communication skills to address employees at all levels of the hotel
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment for extended periods of time to meet high volume business
  • Ability to lift, balance and carry up to 25 lbs. to transport carts, cleaning supplies, linen, equipment, etc.
  • Ability to lift, balance and carry (with assistance) up to 100 lbs. to transport mattresses, inventory, equipment, etc.
  • Ability to stand or walk for prolonged periods to clean and organize the guest rooms, spaces, storage, equipment, etc.
