Overview TITLE: UX Designer/Researcher TYPE: Contract to Hire LOCATION: Wilmington, DE ONSITE/REMOTE/HYBRID: Hybrid, Onsite 3x a week START DATE: September/October 2025 We are looking for a senior UX Designer/Researcher to lead the design and research efforts for software that drives scientific experimentation and data analysis. This role will work closely with product and engineering teams to uncover user needs, streamline complex workflows, and deliver intuitive, responsive interfaces. The right candidate will bring strong problem-solving skills, creativity, and experience in usability testing and iterative design processes. Responsibilities Develop and refine user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs guided by best practices and established design systems. Leverage analytics and user behavior data to guide design iterations. Deliver clear, developer-ready design assets (Figma files, specs, annotations) and collaborate with engineers to ensure accurate implementation. Plan, conduct, and analyze usability studies on prototypes and live software to validate design solutions and identify areas for improvement. Lead design reviews with stakeholders to align user experience goals with technical and business requirements. Maintain and expand the design system to ensure product consistency. Engage with users and stakeholders to identify pain points, uncover unmet needs, and shape improvement opportunities. Create responsive interfaces optimized for both web and mobile platforms. Develop test scripts, define success metrics, and translate findings into practical design recommendations. Partner with cross-functional teams to prioritize usability enhancements and monitor improvements over time. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Design (Interaction, Graphic, HCI, Product) or a related discipline. 5+ years of UX design experience across multiple platforms (desktop, mobile, touchscreen). Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript constraints and capabilities. Portfolio highlighting design work from concept through launch, including examples of usability testing. Demonstrated ability to conduct usability testing and apply insights to design improvements. Proficiency with Figma (or equivalent tools) for prototyping, wireframing, and design system management. Strong communication skills to explain design decisions and influence stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications Understanding of accessibility principles and WCAG standards. Familiarity with analytics tools and defining user-focused KPIs. Experience designing for complex systems, particularly web-based data analysis tools (scientific experience is a plus).
