If this sounds like you, Excellent Stores Limited is hiring a detail-oriented and analytical Category Analyst POSITION OVERVIEW The Category Analyst will serve as an analytic and category expert using the category management process as a decision platform for initiatives designed to optimize distribution, shelving, price, and promotional mix for Excellent Stores Limited. The Category Analyst will see an item/product through its journey from its original source, anywhere in the world, right through to it being put onto the shelves of our stores. The incumbent works with sales, marketing, shopper insights, business analytics and market research to assist with developing category management solutions to drive profitability, category growth, and enhance the overall shopping experience for our customers. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Understand overall category functions and strategies in order to support the operations of the Buying and Category Management department, ensuring that targets are met. Assist in analyzing trend and sell through data to identify opportunities across product categories and customer segments. Make recommendations based on product declines/increases to ensure movement of stock and allocation of merchandise to stores.

Assist in collating information on key competitor activity in agreed categories and participate with the wider team to agree on appropriate action. Produce and analyze product profitability, volume metrics and other ad hoc reports as requested by Category Manager/Director in assessing product performance utilizing business intelligence and other tools. Work as a team with Category Manager to maintain and establish relationships with key contacts and suppliers. Optimize inventory levels by analyzing purchase orders on time and at the appropriate quantities, aligning as needed with demand planning in order to achieve company targets. Assist Category Manager in collaboration with Logistics department to ensure product shipments are timely and accurate. Work with Category Manager to conduct pricing surveys and review markup reports in order to ensure adherence to pricing strategy as well as maintain competitive pricing. Monitor pricing strategies, promotions, and discounts to maximize revenue and profitability while staying competitive in the market. Assist Merchandising Manager in planning by providing analytical support in assessing effectiveness of existing and proposed merchandising plans for stores. Contribute to overall merchandising activities as necessary. Work closely with the Category Manager to ensure proper stock levels and allocation for promotional and seasonal items and collaborate with suppliers to effectively increase fill rate. Work with the Marketing department to coordinate in-store promotional campaigns as directed by Category Manager, ensuring that accurate categories are enabled for specific promotions. Collaborate with Operations, Warehouse and the Category Manager to determine item forecasts and maintain appropriate item inventory levels. Monitor daily sales averages and adjusting order levels accordingly to ensure proper replenishment. Work with Category Manager to coordinate replenishment process to ensure stores are always fully stocked. Responsible for any other duties as assigned by Manager.

JOB REQUIREMENTS Knowledge/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or related field. At least three (3) years’ experience in a similar environment or an analytical role. Experience in the retail industry is strongly preferred. Technically savvy. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, advanced knowledge in MS-Excel. Experience with MS Dynamics NAV or other Enterprise Resource Planning tool is considered an asset. Highly analytical and methodical. Accurate, detail oriented and ensures data integrity is always maintained. Excellent communication and presentation skills to convey complex data findings in a clear and actionable manner. Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills. Proven customer relationship management skills. Strong interpersonal / communication skills. Ability to work independently and as a team.
