Christie Clinic's department of Cardiology Diagnostics is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse - Diagnostic from Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm at Christie Clinic on University.As a member of the cardiac diagnostics team- this RN provides focused support to perform and provide baseline interpretation for cardiac diagnostic testing and even monitors.Possession of (or in the process of obtaining) an Illinois State Registered Nurse License and ACLS Certification is required. Professional nursing experience with cardiac arrhythmias and general cardiology is highly preferred.JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)Patient Education:Directly performs patient educationEnhances Organizational and Intra-organizational system wide education of cardiac diagnostic testing.Patient Care and Monitoring:Directly monitors and supports the care of stress testing in alignment with established guidelines and best care practices.Troubleshoot issues during stress testing and work directly with provider to communicate positive test results.Participates in health outcomes monitoring for populations served.Delivers expert cardiac diagnostic testing services within various health care settings including but not limited to Christie Clinic ambulatory clinics.Financial Stewardship: Maximizes economics while simultaneously achieving desired outcomes.Personalized, responsive communication with referring providers and others key to patient identification and treatment.Public Presentations- creates and/or delivers continuing education to enhance referring provider awareness, protocol compliance, and program growth.Administer prescribed medications and treatment in accordance with nursing standards and as directed by provider. Prepare equipment and aid provider during treatment, examination and/or testing of the patient. Diagnostic device follow-up, communication to pacemaker clinic and cardiologists with device issues.Plan for patients receiving radiation- communicate to device company, radiation MD, cardiologist and Radiation Oncology staff for creating care plan during treatment.Observe, record and report patient's condition and reaction to medication and/or treatment, to provider. Act as a liaison between the patient and provider regarding complaints, concerns, etc.Instruct patient and family regarding medication, treatment instructions and patient education.Demonstrate the ability to respond to triage calls using a nursing assessment.Assist in codes and nurse alerts.Start IV's and administers IV medications.Perform and read EKG's.Administrative and clerical duties as needed in the department. Included but not limited to charting and billing of testing.Perform related work as required.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Evidence of annual completion of health related courses and/or seminars with a certificate and/or CEU'sTYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching and lifting up to 50 pounds.Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:Work is performed in a clinical setting with possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, hazardous waste, bodily fluids and other waste common to a health care environment.Ionizing radiation and medicinal preparations are also common.Requirements may include working irregular hours.Equal Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with DisabilitiesThe contractor will not discharge or in any other manner discriminate against employees or applicants because they have inquired about, discussed, or disclosed their own pay or the pay of another employee or applicant.
