Department: Executive Director I3R Summary of Job Duties: We are seeking a Robotics Research Engineer for I3R. This position will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing advanced robotic systems. You will collaborate with a team of experts to bring robotic technology into medical procedures and contribute to innovative research projects. The Robotics Research Engineer will contribute to the control system and software design, development, and testing of various robotic systems, ensuring robust and reliable performance. Develop and integrate robotic applications using ROS2 or other platforms. Conduct research and development in medical robotics, engaging in mechanical design, fabrication of robotic components, and mechatronic systems design. Collaborate closely with researchers to advance the state of the art in medical robotics. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to researchers and graduate students. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python Collaborative coding skills. Code management and version control using git Understanding of control systems, software development, and mechatronic systems Familiarity with ROS2 development or similar robot platforms Mechanical design skills. Proficiency in Solidworks or other CAD software Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with 1-2 years experience Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python, HTML, Javascript Collaborative coding skills: code management and version control Strong understanding of control systems, software development, and mechatronic systems Expertise in ROS2 application development and robot simulation Prior experience in web development: frontend and backend using open-source libraries Mechanical design skills. Proficiency in Solidworks or other CAD software. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment Experience with writing documentation Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Proficiency in Python and C/C++ Knowledge of robotic system control and software development Familiarity with robot integration, automation, and motion planning Familiarity with mechanical hardware design using CAD software Additional Information: This position is renewable annually based on continued need for the position, availability of funding, and satisfactory job performance.
