System Failure Analysis Engineer Contract: 11-Months with chance to extend Location: 5 days on-site in Seattle, WA Pay rate: 70hr Overview: Looking for an experienced engineer who has performed and run failure analysis based on detailed reliability reports. Ideally looking for someone who can come in and perform root cause analysis on printed circuit boards to test for corrosion, Exo-thermic event and has used thermo-analysis tools. Responsibilities: As a Materials and Failure Analysis Engineer, you will be responsible for conducting technical lab work which supports prototype materials development and failure analysis investigations. You will develop and execute SOPs focused on producing world-class analysis outcomes in the areas of sample preparation and physical/chemical characterization. A majority of time will be spent in a lab environment, so enthusiasm for hands-on work and developing lab procedures is important. You will provide technical support to senior engineering staff and manage a queue of materials/failure analysis support requests with the goal of driving design and manufacturing improvements. Optical inspection and measurements Electrical fault isolation 2D and computed tomography (CT) X-ray inspection methods Materials testing execution (mechanical and thermal-mechanical testing) Mechanical cross sectioning and associated sample preparation Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 3+ years’ related work experience Experience with advanced materials and failure analysis techniques. Examples include optical microscopy, SEM/EDS, FTIR, 2D/CT X-ray, and 3D surface profiling Experience with failure analysis methodology to derive a root-cause diagnosis of materials failure Experience in performing bulk materials or electronics cross sections with associated physical/chemical measurements Experience with PCB's
