PRIMARY FUNCTION: Living Room Lead Server

DEPARTMENT:Food And Beverage

REPORTS TO: Food and Beverage Manager

Job Summary: The Lead Server is a liaison between Food and Beverage Management and the Living Room floor/bar teams. The lead oversees training and ensures we are consistently exceeding guests' expectations. The ideal candidate is a proven customer service professional with extensive experience as a cocktail server in an upscale bar setting. This individual is to act as an example, have a dependable work ethic, and bring a positive attitude every day.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead by example consistently showcasing professional, friendly, memorable, and engaging service.
  • Train, counsel, and educate Living Room staff to maintain high standards of service.
  • Conduct ongoing training of menus, cocktails, and 5-star service standards.
  • Create an inspiring team environment with open communication, positive culture, and accountability.
  • Troubleshoot problems that arise and handle issues on own, but also know when to involve leadership within the hotel.
  • Maintain an open line of communication between guests, management, and service staff.
  • Ensure cleanliness of the Living Room and surrounding areas
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of all food and beverage menu items, including ingredients, preparation, and garnishes.
  • Set and help achieve clear sales and service goals for the team.
  • Use suggestive selling techniques to drive revenue.
  • Utilize the Point-of-Sale system to accurately record guest food and beverage orders, notifying the bartender and/or kitchen of any special requests.
  • Assist with food and beverage inventory items with a proactive mindset of sharing information with the team.
  • Maintain a personal cash drawer and ability to close the restaurant in Manager's absence.
  • Attend daily pre-shit meetings.
  • Follow local and state laws and the Dewberry's policies and procedures for the service of alcoholic beverages to patrons.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma/GED preferred
  • Minimum of two years of serving experience in a luxury hotel or fine dining setting
  • Knowledge of safe food handling procedures and safe serving of alcohol.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with anticipatory knowledge to exceed guest expectations.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to provide guidance and support to teammates.
  • Ability to think quickly and effectively in a fast-paced environment to resolve issues that may arise during service.
  • Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Ability to lift and carry 50lbs, carry and balance crates, wine, and beer cases as needed.
  • Stand for extended periods of time (8-11 hours).
  • Bend, squat, crouch in areas of limited space to perform cleaning, organization, and other duties.
  • Ability to work in hot, humid, and noisy environments
