Job description

Job Store Staffing is seeking an Accounting Technician for the Treasury Department in the Denver, CO area This is a temporary position starting as soon as possible and running about 6 months. The Accounting Technician supports the day-to-day operations of the department including, but not limited to cash/liquidity management activities, financial reporting preparation and front-line customer service. Responsible for daily cash reconciliation, initiating Electronic Funds Transfers (EFT's), and assisting in forecasting and Direct Deposit/Paycard processes. This is a great opportunity to get your foot in the door

Schedule/Pay: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, $24/hr

Responsibilities of the Accounting Technician:
  • Performs general ledger preparations and validation, including research and recording of daily cash item receipts, checks, ACH/wires, Paycards and cash transfers.
  • Maintains accurate records and engages in other activities related to monitoring the supply and movement of cash; performs reconciliation of cash accounts between bank statements and general ledger, assists with the preparation of cash flow forecasting.
  • Provides high level customer service for research into individual cash transactions; accesses and acquires data from numerous District and external sources; and verifies and reconciles accounts.
  • Performs more complex calculations and classifications of data; prepares dashboards and data visualizations to support recommendations for stakeholders.
  • Validates the accuracy of figures, calculations, orders, and postings recorded by others.
  • Processes and uploads State and Federal Payroll taxes and Quarterly 941 filing, uploads payroll file; enforces company policies and department procedures.
  • Monitors past due notifications and collections.
  • Maintains proactive communication with key internal and external stakeholders, including third-party vendors, banks, and merchant services, as required
  • Ensures efficacy of treasury processes and procedures and contributes to procedural changes, as needed.
Requirements of the Accounting Technicia:
  • 3+ years experience with Accounting, Financing or related field
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (e.g. Excel, Word) and Google Workspace
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with district and school leaders, faculty, staff and students
Preferred:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Knowledge of treasury functions, public sector accounting and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), preferred
