Junior Accountant

Alexandria Insights is a government contractor who is seeking a friendly, organized, detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join and grow with our accounting team. We are seeking a full-time candidate for our Stafford, VA office location. This position will support the Controller and Senior Staff Accountant with the day-to-day financial operations, primarily performing Accounts Payable (AP) duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Reviewing vendor invoices and performing transaction entries into our Procas accounting software.
Reviewing and processing travel claims for employees in both local and remote locations.
Verifying travel documentation is in accordance with both the government contract requirements (JTR) and the company's travel policy.
Assemble travel documentation for monthly invoicing, which requires knowledge in determining proper classification of accounting and expenditure codes.
Preparing and processing vendor invoices and employee's travel claims for payment.
Preparing annual 1099's for required vendors.
Assist with employee's request for travel arrangements when needed.
Assist with credit card and other general ledger account reconciliations.
Perform other duties as required to support the accounting team and corporate office.

Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is desired.
Knowledge of Government contracting and GAAP/FAR/CAS/JTR.
Knowledge of accounting practices & concepts is a must.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to effectively interact with vendors, employees and management.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Knowledge of Procas or other related government accounting software is a plus.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Work, Outlook and Teams)
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desire to grow professionally within the company.

Salary Range - $60,000 to $80,000
