The R&D team works at the interface of hardware, software, fluidics and materials.

To develop and improve automated fluidic processes, we

collaborate with engineers and scientists in all teams at Volta Labs.
Job Responsibilities

Work on complex open-ended problems across multiple engineering disciplines, with a large component focused on fluidic processes: liquid handling, droplet manipulation, liquid/solid and liquid/liquid interactions.
Design and execute experiments and use results to inform and develop improvements and new software and hardware features.
Characterize and evaluate various liquid handling operations across our internal fleet of instruments.
Collaborate with hardware engineers to evaluate product requirements and technical risks.
Become fluidics subject matter expert to inform instrument operational window and protocol best practices.
Requirements

Portfolio of previous work.
Experience with prototyping, experimentation, hardware testing, or other relevant hands-on engineering work.
Experience with Python scripting for data analysis and visualization.
0-2 years of industry or graduate academic experience in relevant fields of: Bioengineering, Biomedical, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or similar.
Nice to have

Experience in research and development of: micro/milli fluidic systems for laboratory instruments, consumables for microfluidic systems.
Experience in biochemistry and/or bioassay development.
Experience with characterization of films and coatings.
This is a full-time position that requires a significant amount of in-person work and collaboration. We ask that you can come onsite to our Seaport Office in Boston, MA 5 days a week.
