The Manager of Creative & Therapeutic Arts & Special Programs will be responsible for the day-to-day programming of the creative arts, therapeutic arts and special programming within the hospital. These programs include, but are not limited to music therapy, art therapy, Seacrest Studio, performing arts, art curation, and therapy. The manager is also responsible for the spaces associated with these services. The manager is also responsible for the supervision, continuing education and training activities for these programs. The manager will collaborate with the Director of Child Life and Integrative Care Services to support the plan, development, implementation and evaluation of all Creative & Therapeutic Arts and Special programs. The manager will collaborate with other departmental managers – Child Life, Volunteer Services, etc. to manage key functions of the department – HR, PI, policy development and budget management. Description:

Minimum Education Bachelor's Degree Education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in child development, psychology, music therapy, art therapy, child life, or related discipline. (Required) Master's Degree Child Life, Music therapy, Art Therapy, Psychology, Public Health, Business Administration, Hospital Administration, or other related field. (Preferred)

Minimum Work Experience 5 years Supervisory/management experience in related job function. (Required) 5 years Current experience in complex medical setting (Required)

Required Skills/Knowledge Demonstrated leadership and management skills in the functional area(s); Strong leadership, project management, delegation and prioritization skills; Strong interpersonal skills as exhibited by the ability to influence others and build collaborative relationships both within areas of oversight and across the organization with diverse group of individuals at all levels; Excellent oral and written communication skills; Ability to use conflict management and problem solving skills in complex and/or emotionally charged situations; Experience in forecasting, budgeting and tracking spending (full budget cycle); Expertise in non-profit finance management and issues special to non-profits; Advanced MS Excel, grant management, financial analysis; Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a positive attitude and passion about organization and service line mission.

Functional Accountabilities Program Administration, Strategic Planning, Development and Service Line Performance Contribute to the service line development and strategic plan, including short-term and long-term objectives. Management of day-to-day operations of programming/service; troubleshoot operational issues and develop action plans to resolve Collect and analyze data/feedback and evaluate programs effectiveness. Incorporate findings into plans to modify programming and service delivery. Work with the Director and other involved staff to develop a way to capture and report the key program outcomes and performance of the program. Develop, implement and evaluate programs, services, policies and procedures, and performance standards to achieve goals. • Administer programs within budgetary guidelines.• Collaborate with the director on signification operational issues/barriers• Assist director with regulatory compliance Patient/Family Plan Assist and write patient care plans and developmental treatment plans, when appropriate Provide a range of therapeutic services Organize and monitor services and activities for the patients/families utilized services Provide supportive services to patients, parents, siblings• Use a range of communication skills to assist patients, families and staff to address care needs and complex issues Intervene effectively in highly emotional or complex situations involving patients, families and/or staff; using a range of techniques including conflict management skills Provide follow-up services as appropriate and assess outcomes of interventions• Document assessment and interventions in medical records, in accordance with departmental standards. Communication Communicate with nursing, medical team, child life, hospital volunteers and other service line members about patient care issues to ensure continuity of care. Advocate for patient and family needs within the hospital Organize patient care conferences when complex issues arise• Educate staff about therapeutic outcomes that can impact treatment plans. Staff Relations Meet with director to review individual goals, team goals, team performance and department priorities Set standards to meet departmental requirements for documentation Complete continuing education course to maintain knowledge about profession’s best practice Practice in accordance with professional standards• Administrator internship program within the department Maintain strong collaborative relationships with Child Life, Volunteer Services, PR & Marketing, Foundation, and other regular departments with continuous collaboration.
