Custom Collaborative (CC) is a US-based social enterprise non-profit that trains, mentors, and advocates for and with no/low-income and immigrant women to build the skills necessary to achieve economic success in the sustainable fashion industry and broader society. We enrich women and their communities by preparing those facing high barriers to employment with skills to own, operate, and contribute to fashion and design businesses at a high economic, social, and environmental standard. Custom Collaborative envisions a global apparel industry in which garment makers are fairly compensated for their labor and consumers have access to well-made, sustainably sourced clothes that fit and affirm all bodies.

Job Summary:

The Development Associate will work closely with the Director of Development and Communications and other team members to implement fundraising strategies, coordinate events, manage donor communications, and maintain donor databases. This role offers an exciting opportunity for someone with excellent organizational skills and a passion for making a difference to contribute to our mission-driven organization.

Functions and Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the implementation of fundraising strategies to meet organizational goals.
  • Coordinate fundraising events, including logistics, vendor management, and volunteer coordination.
  • Manage donor communications, including acknowledgment letters, and Cohort updates.
  • Maintain donor databases and ensure accurate and up-to-date donor records.
  • Research prospective donors and assist in the cultivation and stewardship process.
  • Prepare materials for donor meetings and presentations.
  • Assist with grant writing and reporting as needed.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including marketing and finance, to support development efforts.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in fundraising and development.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 1-3 years of experience in fundraising, development, or related field preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and donor management software (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser's Edge).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for the organization's mission and commitment to its values.
  • Time and task management skills; attention to detail
  • Ability to perform tasks to a high standard
  • Demonstrated ability to engage a diverse range of people with interest and respect
  • Excellent organization and time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects and respond professionally to new events and priorities

Terms and Compensation:

The Development Associate is a full -time position reporting to the Director of Development and Communication. Pay range is $45,000 to $49,000.

Work Model: Hybrid (3 days in-office, two days remote)

You may be required to work more than three days in the office in a given week, depending on events, visits, and meetings.
