Under the supervision of the VP of Member Experience and Healthy Living and in accordance with the principles of the YMCA, the Health Equity Director will operate within the policies, procedures, and practices of the YMCA of Greater Tulsa. This position is responsible for developing, organizing, and implementing assigned programs and program areas. This position supervises staff, volunteers, and manages community and vendor agreements and relationships. Director of Health Equity and Wellness to work in partnership with local community and civic partners in advancing Health Equity and Wellness. Health equity is defined as all people having the opportunity to attain the highest level of health, where no one is kept from reaching the highest level of health because of their social position (e.g., class, immigration status) or social identities (e.g., race, gender, sexual orientation). Many health inequities have root causes in structural and social determinants of health (SDOH), including institutional racism and racial bias. Because of this, the Director of Health Equity will focus on utilizing the YMCA of Greater Tulsa's branches and expertise to address inequitable outcomes that impact communities of color, such as cardiovascular, physical inactivity, obesity, women's health, and access to resources. The ideal candidate will be a passionate advocate of health equity and wellness, with a strong understanding of the root causes of inequities and the social determinants of health and capacity to educate others. They will also have a direct focus on evidence-based programing. Exemplifying the "Y" values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility is expected.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Fiscal Management: Budgeting for all areas of responsibility, expense control, and income generation. Program Development: Personal Training Programs, HIPPA, build & enhance community & medical partnerships, assist in training branch & association staff and health coaching. Organize special events as needed. Supervision / Staff Development: Recruit, train, supervise, and retain staff. Take leadership role in HIPPA training of all staff. Financial Development: Staff leadership role in Strong Kids Campaign, community grants & other funding sources Volunteer Development: Recruit, train, supervise, and retain volunteers. Safety / Risk Management: Maintenance and cleanliness of areas of use & all equipment, follow association policies and guidelines Marketing: Annual promotion plan for all program areas including flyers, brochures, website, newsletter, news releases, advertisements, etc. Quality: Meet requirements for quality standards at the YMCA of Greater Tulsa. Certification Requirements: Obtain YMCA evidence-based programing certifications within 6 months of hire.

Physical Requirements: High level of concentration and aptitude for learning wide variety of program information and new computer applications; Physically able to sit, stand, move, jump, etc as necessary to teach group exercise classes or work on fitness floor; Physically able to sit at a computer station for extended periods of time; Physically able to lift 45+ pounds; Ability to speak distinctly to communicate with customers and staff on the phone or in person; Patience to deal with 5 or more people at the same time; Sound judgment and problem-solving skills for dealing with daily issues in a variety of situations and with people of all socioeconomic levels. Operations: Meet assignments, deadlines, trainings, meetings, etc.

Requirements

Required: Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) in Public Health, health disparities, non-profit management, or health related field. Masters preferred. Strong human relation skills Direct experience in support of health equity and/or health disparities programs Knowledge and/or experience working with evidence-informed intervention protocols related to health equity Minimum 2 years' experience working in health & wellness emphases on evidence-based Programs Minimum 1 year experience building relationships with the medical community. Volunteer or Staff supervision experience.

Preferred: Knowledge of budgeting & expense control. Excellent written and oral communication skills Basic understanding of the nature of the YMCA as a membership organization Bilingual - English/Spanish Current CPR/AED/First Aid/O2 Certification Experience working in a non-profit environment Nationally recognized certification(s). (ACE, AFAA, ACSM, NSCA, YMCA, etc.)
